Hi,
I'm Pehon, your current VP of STSU, and I'm excited to share my vision for our upcoming STSU-Pilot Branch election. This milestone represents our first-ever Pilot Branch election - a development I've long advocated for to increase member participation.
Since joining the union in 2021, I've had the privilege of serving in both the Pilot Branch, EXCO and as Vice President. Your continued support has been invaluable, and I'd like to outline my key commitments:
- Building a Stronger Union. While STSU has a solid foundation, we can achieve more. My vision is to establish STSU as the premier Airline Union. This involves enhancing member communication and engagement, and through introducing structured programs focused on professional development and welfare. I will share more details in the next term.
- Protecting Core Principles. I remain committed to preserving essential benefits at Scoot, including fixed rosters and fleet choice. We will work with existing frameworks—and develop new ones when needed—to further optimise our roster for work-life balance while maintaining these fundamental benefits.
- Advancing Career Development. I will actively support career progression opportunities within both Scoot and the wider group. For 787 & 320 Captain positions, I will continue advocating for clear priority system: CUP first, followed by VFMS, with Direct Entry Captains as the absolute last resort. I'll also work to expand SCCS opportunities for those interested in transitioning to the parent airline.
- Flight crew compensation. The recently signed CA was undoubtedly a milestone achievement and a step in the right direction. We began negotiations with the goal of better recognising the work of all our pilots, and I'm pleased we achieved many of our objectives. However, there is still significant room to improve how we recognise the work done by our pilots across all three fleets. The new team will likely negotiate two more CAs (2027 and 2029). If elected, I will continue championing better recognition for the diverse work performed by pilots across all fleets.
Thank you for considering my candidacy. Your participation is crucial in shaping our union's future. Please cast your vote at OCC between February 26 and March 5. You can vote for up to 7 candidates to form the branch—I encourage you to use all seven of your votes!
See you in the next term!
Pehon
